In 2000, Umang Tewari worked part-time in a Café while studying for his MBA in London, gaining experience and exposure in the hospitality industry. Umang Agarwal had always intended to join the family business, despite coming from a construction family. However, Umang Agarwal’s path changed abruptly when he realized he wanted to open his own Café in his hometown of Delhi.

In 2002, Umang Agarwal noticed a significant gap in the hospitality industry after finishing his studies and returning to Delhi. Umang Agarwal was unable to locate a local eatery or Café where people of similar tastes and backgrounds could socialize. So, took it into his own hand to fill the gap in the hospitality industry.

Umang Agarwal's father had intended to convince him to work for the family company. However, Umang Agarwal's father encouraged him to start something on his own that he could be proud of and leave as a legacy and supported him in doing so. Umang Agarwal wanted to go study the hospitality industry, but his father discouraged him by explaining that real training only comes from the job itself.

In 2002, with a capital of roughly Rs 35 lakh that he had borrowed from his father, Umang Agarwal opened Oxygen Café and Bar in Vasant Vihar. It began with a boom, but eventually, Umang Agarwal was forced to return to his family's business because of complaints from the locals. 

After about five years of working there, Umang Agarwal realized he was meant for something else. Umang Agarwal decided to target the hospitality sector once more in 2009 after finding his lost energy. In Hauz Khas Village, a hotspot for parties in Delhi, he opened the Out of the Box Café.

In the two years following the opening of Out of the Box, Umang opened five additional Café locations throughout Delhi-NCR, including Raas, Junkyard Café, OMG, Scooter, Key, and The Vault.

Currently, Umang Agarwal is a well-known figure in the hospitality sector who has shaken hands with prominent figures from Bollywood and a number of other celebrities. Many famous people have been spotted in Umang Agarwal's Café, including Gautam Rode, Arbaaz Khan, Kanika Kapoor, Randeep Hooda, and many more.
