Introduction

 In 2021, Rohit Shetty wrote and directed the action movie Sooryavanshi, produced by   Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good   Films. The fourth entry in Shetty's Cop Universe stars Katrina Kaif against Akshay Kumar in   the title character as chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh also   return as Singham and Simmba, respectively.

Details

Story 

A terrorist assault on Mumbai is a real prospect. Hence, ATS chief Sooryavanshi sets out on a mission to find the conspirators and the 600 kg of missing RDX.

Release

On the eve of Diwali in 2021, Sooryavanshi was released on 5 November 2021 in theaters post-pandemic.

Reviews

Though the plot of the movie Sooryavanshi was not new or different, but the direction by Rohit Shetty was very engaging. The acting of every cast was very appropriate. It was a wholesome theater experience after so long due to the pandemic.

The famous song ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ was recreated in such a soothing way. The action and stunts were great as it was a Rohit Shetty Film.

Crew

Sooryavanshi is directed by Rohit Shetty. Yunus Sajawal has prepared the movie's screenplay, but Rohit Shetty has built the story himself. It has been produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Rohit Shetty. The cinematography is done by Jomon T. John, edited by Bunty Nagi, and the music has been composed by Amar Mohile under Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films.

Character Analysis

Akshay Kumar played the role of a DCP Veer Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi is also referred to as Surya. Surya is the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad, who sets out on a mission to find the terrorists and the 600 kg of missing RDX who are about to attack the city.

Katrina Kaif is a doctor in the movie whose name is Dr. Ria Sooryavanshi. She is the wife of DCP Veer Sooryavanshi or Surya played by Akshay Kumar.

Controversy 

On the release of the movie Sooryavanshi, the director- Rohit Shetty, was questioned for making villains Muslim in his film. However, in an interview, Rohit said there was no specific thought behind making villains out of a particular caste or religion.

Sooryavanshi was a super hit at the box office with a collection of Rs 294.91 crores.

• With the movie Sooryavanshi Rohit Shetty is taking forward Simmba and Singham franchise as well.

• Sooryavanshi’s release date was postponed several times because of the pandemic.

• The remake of the song Tip Tip has been sung by the original singers only (Udit Narayan, and Alka Yagnik).

•  The movie was re-released in the cinema halls of Gujarat on January 14, 2022, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

In totality, the 2h 25m Sooryavanshi is a complete entertainer and is worth watching. The movie is inspired by 1997-batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Vishwas Nangre Patil.
