Life Story 
Sumit Nagal is an Indian pro tennis player. He was born on August 16, 1997. He and his Vietnamese partner, L Hoàng Nam, won the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles title. This made him the sixth Indian player to win a junior Grand Slam title. He is the best singles tennis player in India right now, and since 2018, he has been a regular part of India's Davis Cup team.
Education
Sumit Nagal was born in Jhajjar, Haryana, on August 16, 1997. His father, Suresh Nagal, was a school teacher, and his mother, Krishna Devi, was a housewife. Nagal began playing tennis at an area sports club when he was eight years old. At age 10, he was chosen to be in the first group of Mahesh Bhupathi's Apollo Tyres Mission 2018 project. He went to Mahesh Bhupathi's training academy. As part of the scheme, Nagal lived in Bangalore from 2008 to 2010. Nagal moved to Toronto to train with Coach Bobby Mahal when the course ended.
Career
2015: Junior Wimbledon Champion
At India F8, Nagal defeated Gustavo Vellbach 6–2, 6–0 for his first ITF Futures title. Nagal defeated compatriot Ronit Singh Bisht 6–3, 6–4 to win India F11. Nagal and Vietnamese partner Lý Hoàng Nam defeated Reilly Opelka and Akira Santillan in the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles final. He became the sixth Indian junior Grand Slam champion. Nagal won his first ITF futures doubles title with Vijay Sundar Prashanth by defeating compatriots Anirudh Chandrasekar and Vignesh Peranamallur 6–3, 7–5, and the singles title by defeating Vishnu Vardhan 7–6(7-5), 7–6(7-4).
2016 Davis Cup debut
Nagal and Ti Chen defeated Sanjar Fayziev and Jurabek Karimov 5–5 ret to win Uzbekistan F1. He defeated Daniel Masur 6–4, 1–6, 6-3 in Poland F6. India's 2016 World Group Playoff match versus Spain in New Delhi was Nagal's Davis Cup debut. He defeated Peter Nagy in Hungary F7 7–6(7-3), 6-1.
2017: First ATP Challenger win
After disciplinary violations, Davis Cup dropped Nagal. Romania F2 champion Gonçalo Oliveira defeated Nagal 6–3, 3–6, 0-6. He defeated Alexander Zhurbin 6–3, 6-2 and Carlos Bolunda-Purkiss 6–1, 6-1 to win Sri Lanka F1 and F3. He defeated Andrea Basso 6-4,6-4 in Italy F23. Nagal won India F7 by 6–3, 6-0 over Colin Van Beem. Nagal defeated compatriot Vijay Natrajan 6–1, 6-1 in the final to win gold at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. He didn't lose a set all championship.
At the Bengaluru Challenger, Nagal defeated top seed Blaz Kavcic in the quarterfinals, compatriot Yuki Bhambri in the semifinals, and Jay Clarke in the finals to win his maiden challenger championship.
Asian Games Debut and Form Issues
At the Maharashtra Open, Nagal defeated Divij Sharan and Adrián Menéndez Maceiras to qualify for the main draw, however, he lost to Ilya Ivashka 3-6,3-6. He lost his Davis Cup tie to Zhang Ze 6-4, 6-1. Nagal made his Asian Games debut in 2018 in doubles with Ramkumar Ramanathan, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to eventual silver medalists Alexander Bublik and Denis Yevseyev. Nagal missed the US Open owing to injury and failed to win any Grand Slam qualification matches. After qualifying for the 2018 Shenzhen Longhua Open, he lost to compatriot Ramkumar Ramanathan in the first round. In the 2018 Bengaluru Open quarterfinals, he lost against Saketh Myneni 6-4,6-4. Nagal failed to reach either ITF or Challenger finals at the end of the year.
2020: First Grand Slam main draw win
Nagal defeated Bradley Klahn in the first round of the 2020 US Open, becoming the first Indian to win a Grand Slam singles match since Somdev Devvarman in 2013. Dominic Thiem, the second seed and champion, defeated him in straight sets in the second round.
2021: Olympic debut
Nagal received a wildcard into the main event at the 2021 Australian Open. Ricardas Berankis beat him 6-2,7-5,6-3. After defeating Illya Marchenko and Thomas Fabbiano, Nagal reached the Barcelona Open main draw. In the first round, he lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets. BMW Open qualifier Norbert Gombos defeated him. At the Prague Open, he overcame Zdeněk Kolář and Sergiy Stakhovsky but lost to top seed Norbert Gombos.
Singles qualifier Nagal.He defeated Denis Istomin to reach the 2nd round. Next round, Daniil Medvedev defeated him. Nagal is the first Indian in 25 years to reach the Olympics singles tennis second round. Nagal lost in the 2021 US Open qualification. Nagal's 2021 season ended early after hip surgery in November. Before his injury, he reached the Sibiu Challenger semi-finals, losing to top seed and eventual champion Stefano Travaglia.
2023: First challenger title in 4 years
Nagal was a wildcard at Maharastra Open. A first-round loss to sixth seed Filip Krajinović. In the Nonthaburi Challenger's first qualifying round, he lost against Shintaro Mochizuki in three sets. He lost in the first qualifying round of the 2023 BW Open to Gauthier Onclin.
Rome Garden Open qualifier Nagal. In his first Challenger final in four years, he defeated 4th seed Francesco Maestrelli, wildcard Fausto Tabacco, alternate Max Houkes, and 8th seed Joris de Loore. He defeated Jesper de Jong in straight sets to become the first Indian Challenger champion on European clay. He re-entered the top 260 on 8 May 2023.
