Bell Bottom is a Hindi-language action drama film released in India in 2021 Ranjit M. Tewari produced the film. The script was written by Aseem Arrora and Parveez Sheikh, and the picture was produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Nikkhil Advani under their respective banners Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment. It stars Akshay Kumar as the protagonist, with cameos from Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi. Bell Bottom is based on real-life hijackings in India by Khalistani militants in the 1980s, such as the hijackings of Indian Airlines Flights 423, 405 and 421.
The principal photography started on August 20, 2020. The video was completed on September 30th in London. The film will be distributed in 3D theatres on August 19, 2021. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, praising Kumar and Duttas performances, art direction, fast-paced narration, screenplay, background music, and cinematography but criticising the low-quality VFX shots in action scenes and the weak climax. Because of the mixed reviews, as well as the second wave of COVID 19 and the subsequent lockdown across different states, it was a significant commercial failure.

The Bell Bottom is a spy thriller set in the 1980s, directed by Ranjit M. Tewari, and released in 2021. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles. The story is based on actual events and revolves around the life of a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent named Anshul Malhotra, played by Akshay Kumar. Anshul is a skilled spy who is tasked with the responsibility of rescuing 210 hostages who terrorists on an Indian Airlines flight have hijacked.
The movie begins with Anshul being suspended from his job due to a failed mission. However, he is later called back into action when the hijacking occurs. Anshul and a team of agents set out on a mission to rescue the hostages and apprehend the terrorists. As Anshul and his team get closer to their mission, they discover more about the hijacking than meets the eye. They uncover a conspiracy involving international arms dealers and a plot to start a war between India and Pakistan. The movie has thrilling action sequences, edge-of-the-seat moments, and a plot that keeps the audience guessing until the end. Akshay Kumar delivers a stellar performance as the suave and skilled spy, while Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi provide strong support as his colleagues.
Lara Dutta also performs as a RAW agent who goes undercover as the hijackers wife to gather intelligence. The movie ends on a high note as Anshul completes his mission, saving the hostages and preventing a potential war. The picture was supposed to be released in theatres on January 22, 2021, but it was pushed back to April 2, May 28, and July 27, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first picture to be released theatrically after the second wave of the pandemic, despite the closure of Maharashtra cinemas at the time. The film will be distributed in 3D on August 19, 2021. It was broadcast on Amazon Prime Video on September 16, 2021, and in Maharashtra theatres on October 22, 2021.
It currently has a 58% grade on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. According to Suchin Mehrotra, writing for Film Companion, in the end, somewhere buried within Bell Bottom are the building blocks of a great thriller. Its simply shrouded in simplistic narrative and hijacked by the pressures of the big Hindi film template. The Hindustan Times Monika Rawal Kukreja commended the film for being a suspenseful thriller.
In November 2019, the film was formally announced. Bell Bottom is a true story set in the 1980s about some unforgettable champions of the time. It was the first film to commence production in India following the COVID-19 pandemic. From 20 August to 30 September 2020, principal photography was finished in Glasgow, Scotland and London on a one-shot basis.
Daniel B. George wrote the film music, while Julius Packiam composed the trailer score. Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi, Shantanu Dutta, Gurnazar, and Maninder Buttar composed the films tracks, while Rashmi Virag, Tanishk Bagchi, Babbu Maan, Maninder Buttar, Seema Saini, and Gurnazar wrote the lyrics. The song Sakhiyan2.0 was a remake of Maninder Buttars 2018 Punjabi single Sakhiyan.

The picture was prohibited in three Gulf countries: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. The film certification officials prohibited it due to tampering with historical facts. It was pointed out that the United Arab Emirates Defence Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and UAE authorities apprehended the hijackers in 1984, whereas the film portrayed Kumars character and his team as the true heroes of the operation.
On its first day, Bell Bottom made 2.75 crore at the domestic box office. The picture grossed Rs. 8.60 crore on its second day. The picture grossed 3 crore on its third day. The film earned 36.40 crore on the fourth day, bringing the total opening weekend domestic collection to 52.75 crore. The film grossed 36.46 crore in India and 14.12 crore abroad as of 1 October 2021, for a total worldwide gross collection of 50.58 crore.
When the film's trailer was released, Bollywood actress Lara Duttas stunning transformation (by the highly talented make-up artist Vikram Gaikwad) for the role of Mrs Indira Gandhi became the talk of the town.
