Badlapur is a 2015 Hindi-language neo-noir action thriller film that was produced by Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla under the banners of Maddock Films and Eros International. It was directed by Sriram Raghavan. Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui appear in the movie which is based on the Massimo Carlotto novel Death's Dark Abyss. Huma Qureshi Yami Gautam Vinay Pathak Divya Dutta and Radhika Apte play supporting roles. The movie premiered on February 20 2015. Badlapur was a commercial success according to Box Office India with global box office receipts of about 81.3 crore (US$10 million). The movie received nominations in several categories including Best Film for the 61st Filmfare Awards on January 11 2016.

The movie a standalone sequel to 2013's ABCD: Any Body Can Dance stars Prabhu Deva Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles alongside Sushant Pujari. It is inspired in part by the true story of Suresh Mukund and Vernon Monteiro who founded the "fictitious dance crew" The Kings and later won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship in San Diego. Dhawan and Pujari respectively play these characters.
