Urmila Matondkar is an Indian actress and politician who was born on 4 February 1974. In addition to Telugu Malayalam Marathi and Tamil films she is also known for her work in Hindi movies. She has won various awards including the Filmfare Award and the Nandi Award. She developed a recognizable on-screen image and was renowned for her aggressive acting style and dancing abilities.

After making her cinematic debut as a young child in 1977's Karm Urmila Matondkar rose to prominence with Masoom (1983) after which she had brief appearances in subsequent movies. She played the lead in her first leading role in the Malayalam film Chanakyan in 1989 and she played the lead in the action drama Narsimha in Hindi the following year. Both of these films were box office blockbusters.

In the Marathi film Zaakol directed by Shreeram Lagoo Urmila Matondkar made her acting debut as a little child. She then appeared as a child star in Shyam Benegal's 1980 crime film Kalyug Shekhar Kapur's drama Masoom Praveen Bhatt's 1984 film Bhavna K. Viswanath's 1985 film Sur Sangam Rahul Rawail's 1987 film Dacait and Kalpataru's 1989 film Bade Ghar Ki Beti.

In 1989 she made her acting debut as an adult in Kamal Haasan's co-star T. K. Rajeev Kumar's Malayalam blockbuster Chanakyan. With the 1991 action drama Narsimha by N. Chandra she made her Bollywood debut as an adult. Urmila Matondkar’s First Movie Narsimha (1991)

After his entire family is murdered  Sunny Deol's character Narasimha descends into drinking and criminal activity eventually working as a hired killer for the most dreaded criminal leader in the city Baapji (Om Puri). By taking advantage of Narasimha's drinking Baapji manipulates his behavior till he orders the execution of Ravi Rastogi (Ravi Behl) for falling in love with Baapji's daughter Meenu (Urmila Matondkar). In an effort to overthrow Baapji Narasimha rebels and makes a deal with Ravi and his sister Anita (Dimple Kapadia).

A 1991 Bollywood Hindi Action Drama movie is called Narsimha. Sunny Deol Dimple Kapadia Ravi Behl Urmila Matondkar and Om Puri are the stars of it. N. Chandra was the film's director and it was a box office hit. The Nadeem-Shravan pair composed the record and Sameer wrote the lyrics. The entire record experienced enormous success. The soundtrack album for the movie sold two million copies ranking it among the top 10 Bollywood soundtrack albums of the year. The song "Judaai Judaai " also known as "Mujhe Ek Pal Chain Na Aaye " was the movie's biggest hit. It was ripped off of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Pakistani Qawwali song "Sanu Ek Pal Chain Na Aave."  "Meri Zindagi Ek Pyaas" is a parody of "Meri Zindagi Tera Pyar " a well-known song written by Khwaja Parvez and featuring Noor Jehan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
