Harsh Mayar, an immensely talented Indian actor, has carved a niche for himself in the world of Hindi Bollywood films. His exceptional skills and dedication to his craft earned him the prestigious National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his remarkable work in the 2011 film I Am Kalam.

Career

Harsh Mayar embarked on his acting journey at the tender age of eight in 2005. With the backing of his uncle Sunil Kumar, he joined Shri Ram Center in Delhi, as his parents couldn't afford the fee for acting classes. In those early days, he performed in 5-6 stage shows. Despite facing challenges, he remained persistent, attending a staggering 180 auditions for singing, dancing, and acting roles.

Although selected for the movie Chillar Party, Harsh declined the role due to a broken right hand sustained during play. However, after recovering, he received another audition call, and this time, his parents encouraged him to give it a shot. This decision led to his breakthrough in the film I Am Kalam, shot in Rajasthan in 2009. Working with debut director Nila Madhab Panda, alongside veteran actor Gulshan Grover and comic actor Pitobash Tripathy, Harsh showcased his exceptional talent and won accolades, including numerous international awards and the esteemed 58th National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

Following his success, Harsh Mayar's next venture was Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid in 2012. He continued to impress audiences with his performances in movies like Chaarfutiya Chhokare (1st August 2014) with Soha Ali Khan, a gripping Bollywood thriller written and directed by Manish Harishankar.

I Am Kalam.

Hichki

Hichki is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film, co-written and directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under Yash Raj Films. Based on Brad Cohen's autobiography, Front of the Class, stars Rani Mukerji as Naina Mathur, an aspiring teacher with Tourette syndrome. Despite facing rejection, she finally gets a chance to teach students from a nearby slum at St. Notker's School. The film's journey to production faced challenges, but it became a commercial success, grossing ₹2.15 billion, primarily driven by its popularity in China. Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid

Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid is a compelling 2012 Indian film directed by Nila Madhab Panda. Similar to I Am Kalam, it is also a children's film, with Lehar Khan, Krishang Trivedi, and Harsh Mayar taking the lead as child artists, while Parvin Dabas, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Rahul Singh, Suhasini Mulay, and V.M. Badola contribute in supporting roles.

The movie delves into the sensitive issue of female foeticide and unfolds as an adventurous tale. It gained recognition at the Marche du Cannes film festival and earned nominations at the prestigious Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). Harsh Mayar also appeared in the Hindi musical Paighamber, directed by Vikas Dwivedi, where he shared the screen with actors Tom Alter and Amit Behl in lead roles. The play draws inspiration from the literary classic The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and beautifully blends the folk music of Chhattisgarh and Haryana, along with the traditional Karma dance form of Chhattisgarh. Harsh Mayar took on the lead role as Adrak in DD National's series titled Aadha Full. He began his television career in 2014 with Channel V India's crime series Gumrah: End of Innocence.
