Plot 

Asur, which is set against the mystic city of Varanasi, follows forensic expert-turned-teacher Nikhil Nair as he goes back to his roots at the Central Bureau of Investigation and teams up with his former boss Dhananjay Rajpoot to pursue a brutal serial killer. What happens next is a mix of mystery, mythology, and the killings of some people who had nothing to do with each other.

The second season of Asur was released on 1st of June 2023 and it turned out to be a success with people liking the thrilling storyline and heart-pacing suspense.

Review

Asur Season 2 struggles to arouse the same interest as it did in Season 1. The mytho-thriller, on the other hand, appears to be a typical criminal drama that only excels when it is addressing the issues from the previous season.
The season's major flaw is that it barely makes any allusions to Hindu mythology, save from the comparisons between Kali and Kalki and Kalyug and Satyug. Consider Kesar Bhardwaj's use of the Bhagwad Gita's Ashtha Tithi to describe how Asur picks his targets in a previous season, or how Asur would only kill people born under the Dhanishta nakshatra, prompting Dhananjay to examine the horoscopes of everyone in the SIC database. The show's first season was a "mytho"-thriller in the real sense of the word because the investigators used modern technology and knowledge of mythology to find Asur.
However, Asur's second season does provide the Shubh tale with much-needed resolution and a dignified finish. The creators make a reference to Kali's immortality and the likelihood that it may assume another form when we witness Nikhil kill Shubh to avenge Rhea's death in the last scene. Asur 2 leaves a lot to be desired, despite the fact that it wraps up loose ends and provides insightful commentary on the negative aspects of technology.
