Behind the scenes

Karan Singh Grover replaced Haroon Qazi as Dr. Armaan owing to creative differences. Drs. Armaan and Riddhima were portrayed by Karan Singh Grover and Shilpa Anand.

Shilpa Anand auditioned for Dr. Anjali Gupta. Her promo look test with Karan Singh Grover changed the creative team's thoughts. Sunaina Gulia was cast afterwards. Pankit Thakker was coupled with Muskaan Mihani. He thought Muskaan and he were getting along. Thus, he asked the creative directors to switch him to Sunaina.

Shilpa Anand left the show in May 2008 to pursue a Bollywood career due to production house disputes. Jennifer Winget replaced Sukirti Kandpal, who left in 2009.

Mayank Anand left Dill Mill Gayye in 2009 to write books, followed by Karan Singh Grover. Karan Wahi, Moulshree Sachdeva, Sehban Azim, Neha Jhulka, and Prasad Barve joined the cast for a second season in late September 2009.

On fans' request, Karan Singh Grover and Shilpa Anand returned to the show in 2010 as Dr. Shilpa Malhotra and Karan Singh Grover's partner.

Shilpa Anand almost fainted on set during a basketball scene in 2008.

Controversies

It was stated in 2007 by The Times of India that a group of girls working on the set of Dill Mill Gayye had made the decision to avoid Karan Singh Grover because of his habit of compulsively flirting with them. Shilpa Anand admitted in an exclusive interview with Spotboye that the reason she left the programme in 2008 was due to a disagreement with the executive producer that occurred while they were filming the Zara Zara Touch Me Touch Me dance routine. The audience did not take to her successor very well, which led to a significant decline in the show's ratings when she left.

After Sukirti Kandpal had left the show in 2009, the producer Siddharth P. Malhotra approached Shilpa Anand about coming back to Dill Mill Gayye. However, she demanded a large sum of money, which led to a disagreement between her and the producer. Cinevistaas Limited revealed that they had filed a complaint against Karan Singh Grover because he consistently reported for work many hours late, which resulted in a loss for the company. Additionally, actress Jennifer Winget slapped him while he was working on the set. They did not communicate with one another for a period of several months and shot their respective scenes at different times and locations. In the year 2010, there was a rumour going around that the other two actors, Karan Singh Grover and Karan Wahi, along with Jennifer Winget, were dissatisfied with the fact that the spotlight had been switched to Dr. Shilpa Malhotra.
