Plot 

Dinkar Maruti Bhosale represents thousands of Maharashtrians who believe they have lost their identity in cosmopolitan Mumbai. Dinkar feels Mumbai is in Maharashtra but there is no Maharashtra left in Mumbai. He always moans about how disrespectful people are to Maharashtrians in Mumbai. He thinks he is being treated unfairly everywhere because he is a Maharashtrian, but he doesn't realise that he is the one who made this happen.

Dinkar gets up one day and is so angry that he was born a Marathi that he curses himself. He thinks that his ancestors must have done something very bad for him to be a Marathi. Dinkar's rants reach Pratapgad, where they stir up the spirit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. 

Dinkar now has to face Shivaji Maharaj, who is very angry with him and is raging. Shivaji Maharaj fires Dinkar because he thinks too little of himself. He tells Dinkar that he needs to earn respect instead of asking for it. He says that Dinkar's ideas are to blame for how bad things are for Maharashtrians. Before you blame other groups for your mistakes, look at yourself and see if you have done anything to keep the Marathi pride alive, he yells.

Dinkar realises that he made a mistake, but does Shivaji Maharaj's thought make him want to make things right? At the end of the movie, Bhonsle happily gives the sword back to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at his shrine.
