The teaser of the much-awaited biopic on Sam Manekshaw, one of India's greatest army generals and war heroes, dropped today, i.e. on 1 December 2022 on RSVP Movies' official Twitter account. The title of the biopic is 'Sam Bahadur'. The 27-second teaser shows Vicky Kaushal, playing the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, walking away from the camera with his back facing the lens and the soldiers making way for him. The release date of Sam Bahadur is 1 December 2023.
The movie Sam Bahadur is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of the greatest Army Generals to ever live. Sam Manekshaw was born on 3 April 1914 in Amritsar, Punjab and was the first Indian officer to be promoted to Field Marshal. He was also the 7th Chief of the Army Staff from 8 June 1969 to 15 January 1973. Sam Manekshaw also served the British Indian Army in World War 2 and was instrumental in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Sam Manekshaw served the Indian Army for more than 7 decades, being a part of the army from 1934 until his death on 27 June 2008.
The movie Sam Bahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar, daughter of Gulzar and is produced by RSVP Movies. The script of Sam Bahadur is written by Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Iyer and Gulzar. The lyrics of the movie are penned by Gulzar, father of Meghna Gulzar and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
The cast of Sam Bahadur includes Vicky Kaushal in the lead role of Sam Manekshaw. The movie also consists of other famous celebrities like Sanya Malhotra, who plays the part of the wife of Sam Mankeshaw, Silloo Bode and Fatima Sana Shaikh, who plays the role of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. Sam Bahadur is the second collaboration between Vicky Kaushal and director Meghna Gulzar, with the duo first working together in the 2018 hit film 'Raazi'.

Fatima Sana Shaikh's upcoming movie is 'Dhak Dhak', directed by Tarun Dudeja and is expected to release in October 2023.
