During the first T20I match between India and Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, Ishan Kishan took a spectacular catch to remove Sri Lanka's Charith Asalanka. Umran Malik was bowling the seventh over when the incident occurred. But Ishan Kishan, the wicket-catch keeper, made him famous on social media. Meanwhile, the bowler rushed to Kishan, who remained calm despite taking one of the best catches in recent memory.

The batter, outpaced by Umran's speed, mistimed his pull and the ball went straight up in the air. Meanwhile, Kishan pursued it and eventually caught it after a successful dive. India captain Hardik Pandya couldn't believe what he saw and burst out laughing on the field. Meanwhile, the bowler rushed to Kishan, who remained calm despite taking one of the best catches in recent memory.

Even though wickets kept falling around him Kishan scored 37 off 29 balls with two sixes and three fours before being bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga. Kishan took a brilliant running catch of Umran Malik's bowling to send Charith Asalanka back, with India defending 163 runs.

Kishan ran a long distance to pull off a brilliant play and keep fine-leg fielder Harshal Patel away from the ball to avoid a collision. Umran Malik took his maiden international wicket on home soil, dismissing Charith Asalanka for 12 off 15 balls, ensuring that Sri Lanka lost their third wicket.

Hardik Pandya's reaction, awestruck by Kishan's effort, went viral. Many Indian fans recalled an old catch by former India captain MS Dhoni, as the Indian wicket-incredible keeper's effort left social media in awe. Fans compared Dhoni's catch against West Indies in an ODI in Pune during the 2018 tour. 

On his T20I home debut, Malik finished with brilliant figures of 2/27 in 4 overs. The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer also dismissed Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka for 45 off 27 balls with a 155kph delivery.

According to Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka, the visitors should have won the game. "It was (our game to lose). We were extremely disappointed with how we finished. You need the batters to help you cross the line in Wankhede. I make excellent use of matchups, which is why we limited India to 162. "It's only the first game, and they (batters) are a perfect bunch of youngsters; they'll come good," Shanaka said afterwards.
