Preeta and Srishti Arora leave their birthplace of Nasik when their father Raghuveer Arora passes away. Before passing away, he urged his daughters to travel to Mumbai to be with their mother, Sarla.

Preeta joins the Luthra family and works as a physiotherapist for their grandmother Bani Luthra, whose elder grandson Rishabh and younger grandson Karan have a friendly relationship despite Karan being a successful businessman and Rishabh a popular cricket player. From this meeting, their interpersonal interactions develop and expand. As their cooperation steadily develops into friendship, Karan and Preeta begin to fall in love. Sherlyn, who Rishabh is about to marry, is having an affair with Preeta's fiance, Prithvi. Preeta rejects the idea that Sherlyn's lover is Prithvi when Karan and she learn about it. They make a joint commitment to prevent Sherlyn and Rishabh from being married, but due to a sequence of unfortunate circumstances, Sherlyn weds Rishabh without Preeta's help.

Pihu is the child Preeta and Karan adopted. Preeta was given medications that mistakenly prevented her from conceiving by Sonakshi, Karan's college classmate and one-sided lover, who subsequently admitted to tricking her into thinking she couldn't become pregnant. Preeta is expelled from the Luthra household after Sonakshi employs a goon to stage an accident in which Pihu perishes. The accident is blamed on Preeta by the entire Luthra family. Preeta and her grandmother depart for Bangalore.

Recent Update: In the most recent episode of Kundali Bhagya, Preeta, played by Shraddha Arya, is kept hidden by Nidhi, played by Akanksha Juneja, since Nidhi does not want anyone to find out that Preeta is still alive. Nidhi is also scared of leaving the Luthra Mansion because she is concerned that Karan (Shakti Aanand) Luthra will kick her out of the mansion if he discovers the truth. 

But there is a twist in the story that will bring the Luthra family back together.

Character Analysis

• Preeta Arora: Preeta is the elder of the two sisters and the show's protagonist. She is a strong-willed, intelligent, and independent woman who believes in doing what is right.
