Khana Khazana was a cooking show broadcast and presented by Sanjeev Kapoor, an Indian chef. The emphasis throughout the presentation was on traditional Indian fare. Hansal Mehta was the one in charge of directing the show. Harpal Singh Sokhi served as the host for the initial presentation of the show. Sanjeev Kapoor served as the host for the episodes that came after this one. The director of the Khana Khazana Hansal Mehta has revisited his first work as a filmmaker and how he did not want sanjeev kapoor to host Khana Khazana as he was a man. Sanjeev Kapoor was the biggest name in the Indian cooking shows in the 1990s. Then too not everyone was sure about if he could make it work. At start they would search everywhere in restaurants to find a presentable chef. He went to the tulip star banquet hall and the manager there presented four chefs and asked him to choose one. They were all having coffee when another guy in a chef coat came and told him they should let him know if they need anything his name is sanjeev kapoor though he was not invited by the manager. After that he went home and called Sanjeev to ask him to meet up. They started shooting  the show but ZEE TV rejected him for being a man and thought womens and housewives would not find it relatable man cooking and not a woman. 

The Khana Khazana not only gain the ability to prepare delectable dishes, but they also gain an understanding of the extensive cultural history that lies behind each cuisine.
