Suriya's Affair and Relationship with wife Jyothika

At the tender age of 22, Suriya made his acting debut in the Mani Ratnam-produced movie Nerrukku Ner. With his early films, he did not have success, and he was still working hard to establish himself. Suriya first met Mumbai-born Jyothika Sadanah in 1999 while they were both working on Poovellam Kettupar. At the time, Jyothika and Suriya were both aspiring actors who weren't yet major stars.

Jyothika put a lot of effort into learning the language despite not understanding it in order to establish herself in the Tamil industry. Suriya was surprised by her commitment to her profession and flawless dialogue delivery. Suriya was drawn to Jyothika because of her humility for her coworkers and her devotion to her work.

Jyothika had great success and was well-known. When Jyothika noticed Suriya passing by the sets where she was filming in 2001, she sent her assistant to call him, and that was the beginning of their second encounter. After their second meeting, they struck up a conversation and soon found themselves, close friends. Suriya had already begun inviting Jyothika to his gatherings and introducing her to his close friends by that point.

The two had fallen in love when Kaakha Kaakha was being filmed. The couple was rumored to have been engaged around the time the movie came out. It is stated that Suriya got engaged to Jyothika in order to buy himself some time to persuade his parents of their connection. The engagement was a low-key affair. The two became the most sought-after stars after their movie, Kaakha Kaakha, smashed all box office records and became a big success. The gorgeous couple would drive their fans crazy with just one glance. Every day that went by, their love just grew deeper.

Suriya and Jyothika culminated their lovely connection into the sacred thread of marriage in the year 2006. On September 10, 2006, the devoted couple's wedding festivities had begun with a Mehendi ceremony. Suriya and Jyothika exchanged vows at the Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai on September 11, 2006. The who's who of the Tamil film industry, as well as prominent state and federal ministers, attended their wedding, which was a star-studded extravaganza. After getting married, Jyothika gave up performing and relocated from Mumbai to Chennai.

When they received a tiny angel into their life in 2007, the gorgeous couple eagerly embraced parenthood and gave her the name Diya. With the birth of their son Dev in 2010, Suriya and Jyothika had completed their family.

Suriya Other Work

AIDS Awareness

Suriya starred in a short film about AIDS awareness and served as the Tanker Foundation's brand ambassador in 2007. [91] Suriya criticized the draft National Education Policy (NEP) of the union government in 2019, saying that several of its aspects would negatively impact pupils from rural areas. According to him, the goal of the strategy was to impose the three-language formula in Tamil Nadu and admission and qualifying exams on students. BJP and AIADMK leaders opposed his views.

Charitable Trust

On behalf of the Sivakumar Charitable Trust, Suriya and his family have also offered assistance with funding for Sri Lankan Tamil children's education. Additionally, he actively participates in other charitable endeavors including the Save The Tigerscampaign, which promotes the preservation and protection of tigers in India, nd REACH, a charity that uses supervised treatment programs to completely cure TB patients.

Every year on his birthday, the actor gives back to the community all around Tamil Nadu. Currently, Suriya is appearing in the untitled Bala movie that he also produces. In Kanyakumari, three homes have been constructed for this purpose. Suriya made the choice to offer the homes on the sets to the underprivileged fishermen of Kanyakumari for free rather than demolish them after filming.

Agaram Foundation

Suriya founded the Agaram Foundation in 2006 with the goal of assisting Tamil Nadu's early school dropouts. Suriya disclosed that his father's organization, Sivakumar Educational Trust, which had been running such services on a lesser scale since the 1980s, served as inspiration for him to start the campaign. The foundation produced Herova? Zerova?, a brief commercial video that highlights child labor, poverty, and lack of access to education, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu's Ministry of Education. Vijay, Madhavan, and Jyothika were all featured in the Sivakumar-written and Sivakumar-produced movie. For their further study in a variety of fields in 2010, 159 deserving students were sponsored by Agaram, which has since continued to offer free seats and housing to students.

Agaram Foundation seeks to provide adequate learning opportunities to the rural populace who would not otherwise have access to high-quality education, with the firm belief that an educated mind may not only reduce social problems but also help in the socioeconomic upbringing of society. Through the foundation, he has also created a venue for students to take part in workshops and advance their leadership, goal-setting, teamwork, and communication abilities.

Suriya served as the Pepsi brand ambassador in Tamil Nadu in 2004 alongside R. Madhavan. He was selected in 2006 to promote TVS Motors, Sunfeast Biscuits, and Aircel, the latter of which he continues to support. Since 2010, he has provided his support for Saravana Stores, Bharathi Cements, and Emami Navaratna goods. He secured a new contract with Nescafe, Close-Up, and the Zandu Balm brand in 2011, and he made an appearance in these commercials alongside the actress Malaika Arora. Malabar Gold, a prestigious jewelry company, hired Suriya in 2012. Suriya and his wife Jyothika appeared together in the ads for Aircel and Nescafe. He was recognized in 2013 as the Best Male Endorser in South India at the Edison Awards.

Suriya was referred to as the largest star in modern Tamil cinema by film producer G. Dhananjayan in an interview with the Bangalore Mirror in 2013. He claimed this was mostly due to the fact that Telugu and Malayalam speakers also found him to be popular.

Suriya’s Controversy

Conflict in the law between Suriya and PETA

Celebs opposed the Jallikattu ban, but actor Suriya went head-to-head with PETA, the group that requested the ban.

The animal rights organization allegedly wrote to Suriya accusing him of leveraging the Jallikattu controversy to advertise his upcoming movie, Singam 3 or Si3, and stating that it was exceedingly repugnant of the actor to do so. Suriya was quite offended by this and actually submitted a legal notice to PETA, giving them seven days to issue a public apology, failing which the actor will proceed to initiate a criminal defamation case for their slanderous remarks.

Many were shocked by the actor's drastic action, and PETA was compelled to comply.

Jai Bhim Controversy

As one of the most significant sociopolitical Tamil films to have released in 2021, Jai Bhim exposed the structural injustices and cruelties that the people marginalized by caste are subjected to in Tamil Nadu.
The plot is based on an actual event that happened in 1993 and the court dispute that ensued. Rajakannu from the Irular tribe is wrongfully accused of stealing, arrested, and brutally assaulted before he eventually passes away in police custody in the movie Jai Bhim. His wife Sengeni, with the help of Chandru the counsel, embarks on a journey for justice after the police attempt to conceal the truth.
The scene in which actor Prakash Raj's cop character strikes a man for speaking in Hindi sparked the initial controversy. Raj requests that the speaker use Tamil. On social media, some users criticized the scenario for pushing a anti-Hindi agenda. A other group of Twitter users, however, claimed that Prakash Raj's persona smacked the speaker of Hindi despite the latter's knowledge of Tamil since the latter was dodging challenging issues by speaking Hindi.

In response to the controversy, Prakash Raj stated on November 7 that the indignation exposes the agenda of those criticizing it. After viewing a movie like Jai Bhim, they did not witness the suffering of the tribal people, they did not see and feel bad about the injustice, but they simply saw the slap, he said in a statement to News9. They only realized that. This reveals their purpose.

PMK leader Dr. Ambumani Ramadoss posed a number of queries about Jai Bhim in a letter dated November 10th.

In a statement, Ramadoss claimed that a calendar in the home of the policeman who tortures Rajakannu in the movie has the word Agni Kundam, a symbol of the Vanniyars, printed on it.

The PMK leader further said that while most characters in Jai Bhim kept their original identities, the sub-inspector who beat the man from the Irular community to death had his name changed to Gurumoorthy to honor the late PMK leader J Guru. In the actual case, the officer's name was Anthonysamy.

Suriya replied harshly to the PMK leader exactly one day after Anbumani's letter and stated that neither he nor his production company intended to offend any particular person or group.

Jai Bhim's central idea is how, in a case brought by retired Justice Chandru, a judicial battle was launched against the establishment of justice. We have also endeavored to discuss the issues that indigenous people encounter on a daily basis In a statement, he stated.

On November 14, a group of PMK cadres stormed into a theater in the Tamil Nadu district of Mayiladuthurai and forcibly interrupted the showing of Jai Bhim. This action worsened the standoff between the political organization and actor Suriya.

Trends for #WeStandWithSuriya on Twitter
Suriya and the Jai Bhim creators have been receiving a ton of support in the meantime.
On November 17, the actor thanked his followers for their overwhelming support in a tweet.

This affection for Jai Bhim is tremendous, dear everybody. This is something I've never seen before! I am so grateful beyond words for the confidence and assurance you have all shown in us. Sincere appreciation for supporting us, He wrote.

The Jai Bhim issue surrounding Suriya continues to impede the publication of Etharkkum Thunindhavan.

The renowned actor Suriya is currently involved in a similar dispute with several Tamil Nadu lawmakers. His most recent movie, Jai Bhim, which depicts the brutality endured by the oppressed, courted controversy for offending some members of a particular community.

The PMK political party and the Vanniyar Sangam were against the film. 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' is currently in difficulty since the PMK has asked theater owners in the Cuddalore region not to show the film. The Theatres Owners Union has received a letter about this from the state secretary of the PMK Student Union, Vijayavarman.

The Letter said, In the name of the PMK and the Vanniyar Sangam, we request that the actor Surya's films not be shown in the Cuddalore district until he officially apologizes to the members of the Vanniyar community for the ongoing depiction of the Vanniyars as violent individuals in his films.

Suriya NEET Controversy

In September 2020, following the suicides of three students, Suriya released a statement regarding the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). He criticized the judiciary for ordering students to take the exams in person during COVID-19, despite the fact that the court is operated through video conferencing. He also condemned the government for passing policies that increased inequality.

He referred to NEET as manuneethi and said that the capabilities and abilities of our children should not be evaluated by one test, likening it to a story from the Mahabharata in which Drona wanted Ekalavya's thumb in exchange for training. He urged people to speak out against the NEET, which prevents students from normal families from enrolling in medical courses.

Suriya Temple Controversy

Judge S.M. Balasubramaniam of the Madras High Court requested the chief justice to punish the Suriya for contempt, but six retired justices objected.

Suriya's wife has previously asked for donations to be made to temples, hospitals, and schools. They were denounced by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other right-wing organizations despite receiving strong backing from those who want equal access to healthcare and education.
