In January 2018, Praggnanandhaa tied for third place at the Winter 2018 GM Norm Invitational in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In July 2019, he won the Xtracon Chess Open in Denmark.
Praggnanandhaa won the World Under-18 Chess Championship in 2019.
In April 2021, he won the Polgar Challenge, the first leg of the Julius Baer Challengers Chess Tour.
He participated in the Chess World Cup 2021 as the 90th seed, advancing to the fourth round.
In the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2022, he finished in 12th place.
In the online Airthings Masters rapid tournament in 2022, Praggnanandhaa defeated World Champion Magnus Carlsen.
At the Chessable Masters online rapid chess tournament in May 2022, he defeated Carlsen again and advanced to the finals.
Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen three times in the FTX Crypto Cup 2022, finishing second behind Carlsen in the final standings.
In January 2023, he played in the Tata Steel Chess Masters 2023, finishing 9th with a score of 6/13.
In the 2023 Chess World Cup, Praggnanandhaa became the youngest Indian player to reach the final, where he is scheduled to face Magnus Carlsen.
