Lalitha Rani better known by her stage name Jaya Prada Nahata was an Indian actress and politician. In addition to many Telugu and Hindi movies Jayaprada has also acted in a number of Kannada Tamil Malayalam Bengali and Marathi movies.
She has won three Filmfare Awards South. At the height of her popularity she quit the movie business to enter politics in 1994 by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). From 2004 to 2014 she served as an MP for Rampur Uttar Pradesh.

Jaya Prada’s First Movie Bhoomi Kosam (1974)
Bhoomi Kosam is a 1974 Telugu movie that was directed by K. B. Tilak. It is one of the earliest Telugu movies to depict far-left politics. The liberation of a community from the oppression of Zamindari is the subject of the movie. A son of Zamindar is in charge of the uprising. The movie is an example of left-wing political organisations at work. The movie was made in honour of Ramanarasimha Rao a brother of Tilak who was encountered in 1972. Ashok Kumar Gummadi Jaggayya Jamuna Prabhakar Reddy and Chalam Prabha were among the cast members. Jaya Prada was making her debut.

K. Viswanath wrote and directed the drama film Sargam which was released in 1979 in Hindi. It was a remake of Jaya Prada's South Indian superstar-making 1976 Telugu film Siri Siri Muvva which also starred Jaya Prada.

The 2018 Indian drama film Kinar also known as Keni was co-written and directed by M. A. Nishad. On the eve of the assembly elections in 1994 Jayaprada joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) at N. T. Rama Rao's invitation and quickly progressed through the ranks. She was reportedly considering running for office at the time but she decided against it even though Rao offered her a seat. In 1996 she was selected to represent Andhra Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. Additionally she served as the Telugu Mahila President. She left the TDP to join the Samajwadi Party after having disagreements with the party's supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu. During the 2004 General Election she ran from the Rampur parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and won by a margin of more than 85000 votes.
Later on March 10 2014 she and Amar Singh joined the RLD and soon after she was given the ticket to run for the Bijnor seat in the general elections of 2014. But she came up short in the vote. On March 26 2019 she formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Bhupender Yadav the national general secretary.

Nobody helped me as I was going through that experience she claimed. Only Amar Singh ji who had just finished his dialysis stood by me and gave me comfort. What will you consider him to be?
