Kapur began his career as a trainee at BMW in Munich. In 1991 he worked as a summer intern at TRW Koyo in Tennessee to gather industry knowledge. Following that in 1996 he joined the Sona Group as a member of Sona Koyo Steering Ltd's human resources department. In 2003 he became the managing director of Sona Sonic Lemforder Co. after establishing Sona e-Design for the transfer of 2D to 3D design (data migration). Kapur also founded Sixt a car rental company in 2005 taking over the India franchise under Sona Mobility Services Ltd. He was Sixt's MD and CEO and he led the company's expansion to five locations in India.

As vice chairman and managing director of Sona Koyo Steering System Ltd. in 2008 he aimed to improve human capital resources in a health-conscious atmosphere. He was appointed chairman of the supervisory board of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited in 2009. Kapur is now the chairman of Sona Comstar. Kapur was appointed Global Chairman of The Entrepreneurs' Organization from 2007 to 2008. Kapur's passion for developing and mentoring new innovators and start-ups inspired him to collaborate with CNBC on Masterpreneur India a unique reality show that aired on CNBC Awaaz in 2015.

Kapur was elected president of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India in August 2021. He was previously the Chairman of ACMA's Electric Mobility and Sustainable Development Committees. Kapur is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) National Council and served as Co-Chair of the Smart Manufacturing Committee from 2017 to 2020. Karisma Kapoor Divorce

Karisma and Sunjay married in a lavish wedding ceremony in 2003 then divorced 11 years later in 2014. Their divorce was nasty with both parties leveling derogatory accusations against one another. Sunjay and his mother Rani had also been charged with dowry harassment according to Karisma. She also claimed Sunjay led a philandering lifestyle including residing with another lady. She recalled his mother also supported all of his wrongdoings and said that after they married Sunjay was still in a physical relationship with his first wife.

Karisma and Sunjay were fighting for custody of their children in court which forced them to uncover their dirty laundry in public in order to declare the other party an unsuitable parent.
