Biography
Indian singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan is best recognised for his work on Bollywood movies. He was born on March 3, 1967, in Bombay, India's Chembur neighborhood.
Having performed since he was a young child, Shankar Mahadevan is a trained classical vocalist. He is renowned for his versatility and ability to sing in a range of styles, including Western, folk, and Indian classical music. With the success of his first single, Breathless, both domestically and internationally, he achieved popularity. He has written the soundtrack for many Bollywood movies, including Taare Zameen Par, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kal Ho Na Ho, and Dil Chahta Hai.
He has received numerous honors for his efforts, including the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer and multiple Filmfare Awards.

Prior to finishing his HSC at SIES Sion and receiving his degree in computer science and engineering from Ramarao Adik Institute of Technology in 1988, Shankar Mahadevan spent his formative years at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School (OLPS) in Chembur. Career
After the publication of the musical album Breathless in 1998, Shankar achieved recognition. He later began directing music and joined the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy group, which composes the music for Bollywood movies. With his song Kandukondain, Shankar won his first National Film Award for playback singing in 2000. He thereafter went on to establish himself as a talented musician in Tamil cinema.
He has since worked with notable musicians such AR Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, Deva, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Harris Jayaraj, Vidyasagar, Mani Sharma, Devi Sri Prasad, G. V. Prakash Kumar, Vijay Antony, D. Imman, and S. Thaman. He has performed Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Marathi songs in addition to Hindi songs alongside Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy and Ajay-Atul. He made a notable cameo in the song Thaniye from the 2000 music video Rhythm, which he also sang. Most of the heroes in Tamil films that he has performed for are Rajnikanth and Kamal Hasan.
He is also a member of the jazz fusion group Silk, which also includes Karl Peters on bass, Shivamani on percussion, Louis Banks on keyboards, and Sridhar Parthasarathy on mridangam.In 2009 and 2012, he served as the show's musical director for Doordarshan's School Chale Hum and served as a coach for Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge. He served as the host, judge, and captain of the Star Plus musical competition Music ka Maha Muqqabala.
