Manish Arora an Indian fashion designer operates a store in New Delhi. He joined the company in January 2011 as the creative director of the Paco Rabanne womenswear line but left in May 2012. Manish Arora is an accomplished fashion designer from India who grew up in Mumbai. He represented India at both the India Fashion Week and the Hong Kong Fashion Week in 2000. 

Manish began to successfully export his fashion wear in 2003 after a different display of his collection captured the attention of the Maria Luisa House in Paris. At the first Indian Fashion Awards which were held in Mumbai in 2004 the designer received the Best Women's Prêt Designer honor.

After that he took part in Miami Fashion Week and was given the Best Collection Award there. He participated in London Fashion Week in 2005 and was well-received by the media and buyers. In addition he displayed his artwork at the Global Local exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Manish Arora participated in a different show hosted there later that year called Fashion in Motion.

After obtaining the title of the greatest Indian fashion designer in 2006 by Outlook magazine Manish opened his boutiques in places other than New Delhi such as Kuwait. Manish has also collaborated with Swatch on their series of limited-edition watches. The RBK Fish Fry Collection a lifestyle line from Reebok and Arora was introduced in 2008. In 2009 Manish has four storefronts in India and more than 80 retail locations selling his clothing. 

The designer shook hands with Biba Apparel Pvt. Ltd. to grow his label. Manish partnered with Amrapali Jewel in 2012 to promote his collection of handcrafted pendants and necklaces. Throughout his career Manish has worked with brands including Lee Cooper Monoprix Nespresso Nivea Toni & Guy and many more on more than fifty-five occasions.

Manish Arora: Initial Year

Manish debuted his works at the Younger Asians Designers Competitors held in Jakarta in 1995 not long after receiving his degree from N.I.F.T. In addition to winning two awards during the competition the editor of French Vogue offered the designer a styling position which he denied since he preferred to stay and continue working in India. Once back in India Manish teamed up with another Indian tailor named Rohit Bal and spent two years learning under him.

Manish Arora: Peak Years

In 1997 Manish established his fashion brand Manish Arora with its headquarters in Noida Uttar Pradesh. Together with his friend and business partner Deepak Bhagwani who oversaw the model's financial division he started his company. In October 1998 less than a year after his label's debut Mr. Arora performed his first solo performance. From 1998–1999 he also assumed the role of official designer for the Vimal shirting and suiting marketing campaign.

The Indian dressmaker made his debut at the India Style Week the same year and the following year he represented his country in the Hong Kong Fashion Week. Arora established himself in the Indian fashion business in 2001 with the launch of his diffusion line Fish Fry. By the following year he had established two flagship locations for the Manish Arora Fish Fry brand one in Mumbai and one in New Delhi.

Three Clothes Personal Restricted in Delhi is a distinct company that houses the manufacturing facility for each of Arora's labels in Delhi. Manish's incredibly bright present came to media attention during India Style Week's fifth season in 2004 making the up-and-coming designer the talk of the fashion district. Last but not least the Maria Luisa residence in Paris has studied Manish's designs and has allegedly been impressed by his work.

In just a few months he became one of the very first Indian fashion designers to display his works at the World-Native exhibition which was organized in collaboration with the British Council of India at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Later the designer was honored by the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2007 after being asked to provide a retrospective of his creations from London Fashion Week.

Manish was invited to present his collection at Paris Fashion Week in 2007 after receiving recognition on a global scale at London Fashion Week. This was his debut on the fashion show. After a successful stint at PFW he joined the prestigious French Federation of Pret-a-Porter in 2009. 

His involvement with Paris Fashion Week persisted and for the Spring/Summer 2013 season of the show Manish debuted his first-ever collection which was inspired by Rajasthani elements from India. The Indian fashion designer later relocated to Paris where the Manish Arora brand debuted its first flagship store in 2014.

Manish Arora: Collaborations

In addition to creating clothing the fashion designer has worked with several businesses to give a variety of products a Manish makeover. He also created eyewear for Inspects in the UK bed linen for Portico the Manish Arora Dwelling line for Good Earth and a variety of socks for the Swedish company Completely Happy Socks. Quite a few high-profile partnerships with international brands like Walt Disney Mercedes Benz Swarovski Elements Nespresso Swatch MAC Cosmetics Pommery Champagne Kama Ayurveda and others are also among Manish Arora's accomplishments.

Manish became the first Indian designer to work with the domestic brand Reebok in 2005. His Fish Fry brand collaborated with Reebok to provide a variety of women's party footwear as part of the group known as Fish Fry for Reebok. The event was featured during London Style Week's Spring/Summer 2006 season in September 2005. Mr. Arora made history in 2011 by being the first Indian seamstress to serve as the creative head of women's fashion at Paco Rabanne a French opulent fashion house. 

At first Manish's journey with the French label wasn't smooth because his collection received mixed reviews. Manish Arora's collections started gaining public attention gradually as international artists like Katy Perry and Girl Gaga were seen wearing his clothing in multiple seasons of the MTV Europe Music Awards. 2014 was the result of their two-season partnership thanks to a consensual settlement.

In 2012 Arora investigated collaborating with BIBA the largest ethnic girls' wear retailer in India. As a result a three-way partnership label called Indian by Manish Arora was established in which BIBA owned 51 percent ownership. The company's unconventional bridal collection was displayed during the 2012 Wills India Lifestyle Style Week.

However it was reported in 2017 that the two manufacturers had discontinued their collaboration either because the contract had expired or because there had been a dispute between the parties involved. In 2012 Manish also collaborated with the upscale jewelry brand Amrapali Jewels to introduce the India Enchanted range. The collaboration which was displayed at Paris Fashion Week immediately became popular among many Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities. 

When the Manish Arora brand began to falter in 2018 the designer found success working with the French soccer team Paris Saint-Germain FC. He developed the renowned capsule lineup for the soccer team.

In October 2020 Manish undertook a second prominent fashion partnership with Amazon India. He became one of the first designers to collaborate with three of India's most renowned designers at once JJ Valaya Ashish Soni and Suneet Varma to develop a new label called RIVER.

Manish Arora: In Different Information

The Indian fashion designer has also made one television appearance as the host of the reality series The Adventures Of The Girls Tailor. The six-part series which premiered on March 16 on the Discovery Journey and Living channel starred Manish Arora as a designer who traveled the country in search of local fashion inspiration. 

It was the first TV episode of its kind broadcast by a global TV network that focused exclusively on an Indian seamstress. In the same year Manish also became a hot issue in the news when he lavishly decorated his Ambassador cars with embroidered seatbacks and neon accents.

The designer also provided a colorful makeover to the Renault Duster car makeover for his style gift at the Indian Festive 2015-2016 Style Present organized at the French Embassy in Delhi.

Mr. Arora inaugurated HOLY HOLY his first Indian pop-up restaurant in Paris in September 2020. It was open from 2–18 October. Together with Marielou Phillips a former minister in the Chanel government he launched the business.

Manish Arora: Downfall

Midway through 2017 Mr. Arora's fashion label started to experience the fury of loss-making business deals vendor disagreements lawsuits exorbitantly expensive fashion exhibitions and retail reductions and in 2020 it suffered the final blow of COVID-19. Due to the financial collapse of the Manish Arora model employees began receiving their wages later and later. 

By the end of 2017 some former employees claimed that their wages had been delayed by as much as two to several months. The clothes from the brand's spring 2020 runway show have been made widely available at steep discounts while the clothes from earlier runway shows have been sold through quaint boutiques around the Middle East and Asia. 

Following the events Manish Arora also cut ties with Deepak Bhagwani his longtime business partner in the early months of 2020. The Manish Arora fashion store in Paris closed at the same time and his website was now unavailable due to maintenance. In July 2020 Mr. Bhagwani disclosed that the French holding company for Mr. Arora's Indian business had filed for bankruptcy. 

Manish Arora’s Controversy

Objectionable shiva legwear

In 2011 the Manish Arora fashion label introduced leggings harem pants and skirts with images of Lord Shiva in Nataraja form on them. The print was deemed offensive by Hindus throughout the world which led to protests against the designer’s collection. A well-known statesman named Radian Zed led the protests and demanded an open apology from the designer as well as an immediate halt to the sale of all repugnant items on his website and in global stores.

Several lawsuits against Manish

Midway through 2017 Manish Arora Label began to fall apart with multiple lawsuits filed against the designer by his former employees for unpaid wages including the one filed by Mr. Alma. An employee of Danish claimed: (Mr. Alma) sent operational debtor Manish Arora multiple reminders and personally visited them at their office to discuss payment of overdue dues but nothing was done to arrange for his rightful debts. 

Employees of Manish Arora also said that the label was in debt yet despite this Manish continued to support his travels abroad and had his artisans create custom costumes for a well-known music festival.
