Shah Rukh Khan first saw Gauri Chhibber at a common friend's party in 1984 when he was only 18 years old. Shah Rukh saw Gauri dancing with another boy but couldn't approach her because of his shyness. When he finally worked up the courage to ask her Gauri who was not interested declined by saying she was waiting for her boyfriend. 

Shah Rukh was naturally possessive of Gauri. Gauri realised she needed a break from this relationship at that point. She left for Mumbai with her friends the day after she celebrated her birthday at Shah Rukh's place. It was at this point that Shah Rukh Khan realised he had feelings for Gauri Khan.

Shah Rukh recalls that he and his friends searched the entire city but were unsuccessful in their search for Gauri. He discovered her on a beach only after a frantic search. 

Shah Rukh Khan decided to pop the question to Gauri Khan when he dropped her off at home in his car. Shah Rukh asked Gauri if she wanted to marry him as soon as she got out of the car. But Shah Rukh was so nervous that he drove away before Gauri could respond. 

Shah Rukh and Gauri worked hard to be together whether it was keeping their relationship a secret for five years or changing his name to appear as a Hindu boy to impress Gauri's parents. 

Shah Rukh and Gauri did everything they could to persuade her parents of their love and commitment to each other. Finally with her parents' approval Shah Rukh was able to secure Gauri's hand in marriage. On October 25 1991 Shah Rukh and Gauri married in a Hindu wedding ceremony.

Career

Gauri started her career as an interior designer and worked on several high-profile projects in India and abroad. Her passion for design and creativity led her to establish her own interior design firm Gauri Khan Designs. Gauri opened her first concept store The Design Cell in Worli Mumbai in early 2014. 

The store features furniture designed by Gauri as well as other Indian designers. Khan was invited to exhibit her designs at the prestigious Maison et Objet show in Paris in 2016. 

Her firm has designed the interiors of several celebrity homes restaurants and hotels. In addition to her successful career in interior design Gauri has also produced several films. 
Her production company Red Chillies Entertainment was founded in 2002 and has produced several hit films including Main Hoon Na Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express all of which starred her husband Shah Rukh Khan. She has also produced critically acclaimed films such as My Name is Khan and Raees.

Berlin Drugs Scandal

Guri Khan Shah Rukh Khan's wife was once caught with drugs at Germany's Berlin airport. According to the Free Press Journal Shah Rukh Khan's wife Gauri Khan was once involved in a Bollywood drugs scandal. According to the report the designer was detained at the Berlin airport for possessing marijuana. 

Apparently this alleged incident occurred several years ago; however no official confirmation of this incident has ever been released. While Shah Rukh's wife Gauri Khan has strongly denied all such reports and dismissed rumours about the incident. In an interview she stated that such rumours do not bother her.

FIR lodged over property issues

Gauri Khan Shah Rukh Khan's wife has been named in a criminal complaint filed in Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. According to the complaint filed by Mumbai resident Jaswant Shah Gauri Khan along with Anil Kumar Tulsiani CMD of Tulsiyani Construction and Development Limited and its director Mahesh Tulsiani were involved in a criminal breach of trust case under Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
