An Indian comedy-drama film titled Waqt: The Race Against Time, or simply Waqt, was produced and directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah in 2005. The movie, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Shefali Shetty Shah, Hemant Pandey, Rajpal Yadav, and Boman Irani, is based on a Gujarati drama by Aatish Kapadia. It depicts Ishwar Chandra Thakur's (Bachchan's) journey as a wealthy, elderly businessman who unexpectedly becomes very severe with his spoilt son Aditya Thakur (Kumar) in an effort to instil life lessons in him before it's too late.

At Filmistan Studio in Mumbai, 14 sets were used for principal photography, and a song was shot in Leh, Ladakh. Anu Malik created the soundtrack, and Sameer wrote the lyrics.

Married couple Ishwarchand and Sumitra Thakur jointly manage a toy manufacturer. Aditya Thakur, their son, has little interest in having responsibilities or choosing his own path in life. When Aditya and his lover Pooja flee, the situation gets worse.

Ishwar and Sumitra resolve to inform Aditya of his obligations because he will need to care for his wife and child once Pooja gives birth. Aditya and Pooja are expelled from Aditya's parents' home and take up residence in a room in the backyard garden.

Aditya starts to despise his father; they go for a long time without speaking, during which Aditya realises his responsibility as a father.

Ishwar, who has lung cancer and wants to make sure that his son is safe and responsible, is in poor health. When his father comes to see Aditya play on stage, he matures into a man and learns about his condition. Aditya enters the stage and begs the crowd to pray for his father to live through the birth of his son. Ishwar lives through the birth of the boy he names after himself before passing away.

Aditya plays with a lonely, crippled boy in front of his family, including his little son Ishwar, while welcoming kids into his father's toy business. The flowers in Sumitra's hair are touched by the spirit of Ishwar, which transports her back in time.
