A 2018 American computer screen horror movie titled Unfriended: Dark Web was written and directed by Stephen Susco. The cast includes Savira Windyani, Andrew Lees, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Betty Gabriel, Stephanie Nogueras, Connor Del Rio, and Colin Woodell. The movie, a follow-up to 2015's Unfriended, centres on a group of friends who discover a laptop with access to the dark web only to discover that the actual owners, a group of cybercriminals hackers, are keeping an eye on them.
At a cyber café's lost-and-found, a man by the name of Matias discovers a laptop and takes it home. The initial owner of the laptop was Norah C. IV. For his deaf partner Amaya, Matias is using the Papaya sign language app. Amaya grows frustrated, though, because the software only helps her understand him and not him comprehend her. On Norah's laptop, Matias is constantly receiving messages from a woman by the name of Erica. He joins his friends Damon, A.J., Lexx, Serena, and Nari on a Skype video conference, but gets annoyed when the machine keeps crashing.
When Erica demands her laptop back, Matias realises she is Norah. Before he can do so, he notices a message for Norah regarding the payment they received for a movie. He then chooses to return it to the cyber café. He strikes up a conversation with Charon68 out of curiosity. As Matias' pals observe his behaviour, A.J. concludes that Matias is involved with the dark web. A troubled Matias ends the conversation when Charon68 brings up trepanation.
When Amaya's signal is lost, Matias tells his buddies that the whole incident was real and warns them that they are all in danger. He does this so that she will lose connection. A group known as "The Circle" abruptly contacts Matias, revealing that they are aware of Matias' deeds, and a large number of Charon profiles join the chat. While another doctor shares a video of A.J. preparing to attack a mall, one of them uploads a clip of Lexx being tossed over a roof. The Circle activates the sound of a weapon loading on A.J.'s computer as police officers attack his home, leading them to believe he is loaded and shoot him.
Matias leaves the laptop running so Damon can transfer its data while he fetches Amaya. Another Charon carries Erica into Matias' closet without his knowledge. Damon admits to the Circle that he was filming everything so that the police could discover it when Charon seizes control of the laptop. He discovers, to his dismay, that the Circle intended to use Matias' discovery of the laptop as a cover for their crimes by him and his pals. A Charon hooks Damon by his closet door a little while later. Another Charon creates a phoney suicide note and confession, suggesting that everyone committed themselves because they were guilty. When Matias receives a call from Amaya, he understands that the Circle altered his texts to mislead her. He observes helplessly as Amaya is assaulted by a Charon, which is almost certainly shown in one of their videos. He approaches the Circle, broken, and queries their motivations. They respond by playing footage of him stating it was "game night," making it clear that this is just for their amusement.
As the results of the poll are announced, Matias laughs and no longer cares about his safety. In Matias' apartment, Erica awakens and rushes to the computer to ask for assistance. As she discovers a hole in her head, the video abruptly ends. The poll draws its conclusion in the roadway before Matias is fatally struck by a Charon driving a van. The Circle assemble in front of the cameras to celebrate after their mission was successful and their crimes were linked to Matias and his companions, while another Charon watches from a camera.
