Following the unintentional demise of Amar Shah in India, the Canadian-based Shah Industries is in danger of failing. Amar's sister and grandma are in mourning, his father Girdhari is in shock and inattentive to others, and Pia Varma, his fiancée and the managing director of Shah Industries, is absolutely distraught. Despite his superiors' lack of interest in the case, Inspector D'Mello, who is conducting the investigation, is committed to identifying the accident's cause.
Amar met Shekhar Malhotra in India and gave him a job before his death, claims Malhotra, a highly esteemed and successful businessman who offers to rebuild and repair Shah Industries without payment. He is given the opportunity and begins the difficult process of restoring the company's viability. Shekhar gradually closes the huge hole left by Amar's passing in the Shah family, and they begin to accept him as a member of the family even as he develops feelings for Pia. Except for Bosco, Shekhar's colleague in Canada, nobody is aware that Amar was killed when Shekhar's jeep struck him by mistake when he swerved to miss a young girl who had walked into the road. Afflicted by guilt, Shekhar travelled to Canada in order to make amends, beg for forgiveness, and support the family in any way he could.
Rich Canadian industrialist Abhigyan meets Pia and decides she is the perfect partner for him. He's thinking about popping the question to Pia and working to restore Shah Industries. But Pia has developed feelings for Shekhar. A disagreement eventually develops between Pia and Shekhar over a theory proposed by Abhi to take control of Shah Industries. Shekhar decides to go back to India after realising that Pia no longer requires his assistance.
While Shekhar is boarding his aircraft, Pia stops him and tells him she has feelings for him. Shekhar denies his emotions and gets on the aircraft. Pia returns home devastated and marries Abhi. Inspector D'Mello, an Indian detective looking for the killer of Amar, arrives at the airport and detains Shekhar. Bosco waits with them as they wait for the next aircraft to India. Shekhar confesses to hitting Pia's fiancé in a phone call to her, telling her how much he loves her. Shekhar suffers an accident due to his intoxication.
When Pia reveals to Girdhari that she was in love with the man who killed Amar, he shocks her by speaking to her for the first time since his son's passing. When he first visited them, Shekhar had told him the truth, and he tells her that he still trusts Shekhar. Then Pia learns from Amar's family how much Shekhar has contributed to the family and how much he resembles Amar to them. They learn about Shekhar's accident from Bosco. Abhi advises Pia, who is dubious, to return to Shekhar because he is her genuine love. D'Mello, who is present at the hospital with everyone, realises that Shekhar is more important to the family than the law, so he ends the case and departs.
Shekhar makes a full recovery and reconciles with Pia as the film comes to a close, leaving Abhi heartbroken and in need of his uncle's support.
