An Indian web series called Rangbaaz is set in the 1990s against the rural backdrop of Gorakhpur. It was made available on December 22 as a ZEE5 original. Rangbaaz Phirse, which debuted on December 20, 2019, was given a second season by ZEE5 in October 2019. On July 29, 2022, ZEE5 broadcast the premiere of Rangbaaz: Darr Ki Rajneeti, the third season. Saqib Saleem, Jimmy Shergill, Ranvir Shorey, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mahima Makwana, Sharad Kelkar, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are just a few of the outstanding actors who have starred in it throughout its whole duration. It has an IMDb rating of 8 out of 10.

Season 1 tells us the true story of Shri Prakash Shukla, a ruthless mobster and the most sought felon in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, is the basis for the movie Rangbaaz. His transformation from a DDU student to the second-most-wanted criminal in India is depicted in the series. Ram Shankar Tiwari (inspired by Hari Shankar Tiwari) and Chandra Bhan Singh (inspired by Suraj Bhan Singh) are more figures connected to Shri Prakash's life.

Season 2 talks about the life of Anandpal Singh, a criminal active in the state of Rajasthan, served as the basis for Rangbaaz Phir Se. His ascent to the position of Rajasthan's most wanted criminal in history is portrayed in the television series. The narrative also addresses his clandestine alcohol business, his rivalry with Gopal Phogawat, and his interactions with the state's political elite.

Season 3 is the story supposedly based on the life of a gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahbuddin, played by Vineet Kumar.
