The 2013 Indian action movie Policegiri, which was produced by T. P. Aggarwal and Rahul Aggarwal, was directed by K.S. Ravikumar. Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, and Prachi Desai play the leading roles in the movie, with Rajpal Yadav and Shivansu Ansika Sachan in supporting roles. The movie premiered on July 5, 2013.
The movie is an authentic remake of Hari's 2003 Tamil film Saamy.
The film opens with a man (Sanjay Dutt) drinking beer in the early morning, followed by beer and idli. Later, after robbing a bike, he enters the police station in order to receive payment from the police inspector. Then he meets a man who drives him to a store where bombs and guns are sold. He eventually runs into a local criminal who employs him to murder a minister. Then, close to the boundary between Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, he kills the criminal and his goons before revealing himself as DCP Rudra Aditya Devraj, the new cop in town.
The local mafia, Nagori Subramaniam (Prakash Raj), rules over the violent and corrupt city of Karimnagar.
Rudra initially shuts down a large number of Nagori companies. But when Rudra sees Nagori, he admits that like other corrupt cops, he also gets bribes in exchange for Nagori accepting particular demands. Nagori agrees, and the two enter a truce.
When locals protest that a gas station is selling less fuel to the public and that a woman was assaulted after complaining, conflict results. Nagori is the owner of the bunk. Both the bunk's staff and Nagori's goons get beat up by Rudra. It turns into a war between the two.
Then Nagori orders a bandh in the marketplace. However, Rudra and his squad are ready on bandh day and clear out all the protesters.
For the residents of the city, Rudra emerges as a hero. But on the day that Rudra is getting married to Seher, Nagori exacts his revenge by inciting a riot in the marketplace and detonating a bomb, killing numerous people (Prachi Desai). Then Nagori tries to abduct Seher, but Rudra intervenes in time to save her life. The police commissioner becomes enraged at Rudra's actions and tries in vain to rein him in.
After then, Rudra receives his transfer orders and is given seven more days to stay in the town. He asserts to Nagori that seven days will be sufficient to defeat him. The following day, Nagori's men ambush a parade in an effort to assassinate Rudra.
However, Rudra and his squad are ready and they kill many of Nagori's men, including an MLA, while also blaming the crowd for the accidents.
After obtaining a warrant to arrest Nagori, Rudra kidnaps Nagori's close associate who later confesses to his and Nagori's role in the bombing. The commissioner then summons Rudra to a meeting where he is threatened by ministers, senior police officers, MLAs, and MPs. He cleverly subdues them by telling them that his pen is equipped with a camera and a sound recorder, and that he will leak the video to the media. As soon as Nagori realises she can't stop Rudra, she flees into hiding.
A few days later, Rudra finds Nagori near the temple dressed as a beggar. He defeats all of Nagori's goons before taking Nagori to a remote location. Then, to ensure that Nagori is never found and is listed as a wanted criminal, he burns him to death.
