The story revolves around a young lady named Diya who, in order to grant a dying man's dream, marries Ratan Maan Singh, an orphan kid, fulfilling his dying wish. The couple then develops a lovely connection and begins to support one another on a platonic basis. She then becomes the temporary owner of Maan Singh Heritage Group of Hotels until Ratan is old enough to take over.

Producer Shashi Sumeet was forced by outrage from the public over the child marriage of 18-year-old Diya to a 9-year-old Ratan to cancel the tv show and recast the concept as a new series titled Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya.

Pehredaar Piya Ki received an IMDB rating of 2.5 out of 10.
