Anurag Kashyap's 2018 romantic comedy-drama film Manmarziyaan, also known as Husband Material in some countries, has Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, and Abhishek Bachchan in the key roles. In supporting parts, it also has Neelu Kohli, Ashnoor Kaur, Vikram Kochhar, and Sukhmani Sadana, among others. Phantom Films and Aanand L. Rai's Colour Yellow Productions collaborate to produce the movie.

A young woman named Rumi is in love with part-time DJ Vicky. When Rumi's family discovers them one day, pressure to wed them grows. Vicky will visit Rumi's family to ask for her permission to marry, Rumi assures her family, and if he doesn't, she would wed whoever her family picks. Vicky, however, who is apprehensive and immature, frequently changes her mind.

She ultimately gave up on him and consents to an arranged union with Robbie, a responsible and mature banker. Rumi agrees to the proposal but declines to get married the night just before the nuptials because she thinks Vicky has changed. He then retracts once more.

The following day, Robbie and Rumi get hitched. She eventually begins to feel at ease around Robbie. Vicky shows up one day to inform Robbie of his relationship with Rumi and expresses her desire to continue being his wife. He continues to point out her options. The following morning, she chooses to sleep with Vicky. Suspiciously, Robbie pursues Rumi and eventually finds her with Vicky. When Robbie discovers Rumi had cheated on him, he is devastated. When pressed, Robbie admits his love for Rumi but maintains that Vicky and she are better off together. Robbie seeks an annulment the following day.

Vicky was never the "marriage material" Rumi was searching for, and she now understands that she loves Robbie. Vicky eventually decides to part ways with Rumi. In court, Rumi encounters Robbie. The documents are signed. Rumi responds to the inquiries Robbie had made of her en route. In the end, Robbie pardons her and they are reunited.

Manmarziyaan was received well by the critics who praised its contemporary love story and a strong performance by the cast. Even the soundtrack of the movie was highly praised. The movie did moderate business at the box office, earning close to INR 40 crores during its run.
