In 2021, Satish Kaushik directed the biographical comedy Kaagaz, which Salman Khan and Nishant Kaushik produced under the banners Salman Khan Films and The Satish Kaushik Entertainment Production.  Pankaj Tripathi and Monal Gajjar both appear in the movie. Playing the main villain is Amar Upadhyay. The story of the movie is based on the struggles of Lal Bihari, a farmer from the remote Amilo Mubarakpur village who was officially ruled dead by his family members because he married a Dalit girl. It shows the struggles of Lal Bihari to get his basic rights from the Indian bureaucracy and how it took him 19 years to prove to the government that he is indeed alive. 

Kaagaz was received well by the critics, who praised the freshness of the story and the performances of the main cast. The direction and storytelling were also praised. The film was an OTT release, with it being released directly on Zee 5.
