An investor is a person who invests money with the hope of making a profit or gaining an advantage in the future in the form of interest. The majority of the time, the investor purchases some kind of property using these assigned funds. Equity, debt, securities, real estate, infrastructure, money, commodities, tokens, derivatives like put and call options, futures, and forwards are a few examples of investment types. There is no distinction between primary market investors and secondary market investors in this definition. In other words, both individuals who invest money in a company and those who purchase stock do so. A shareholder is an investor who owns the stocks of some particular companies. Some famous investors from India are Radha Krishna Damani, Vijay Kedia, Guruveer Chahal and Nemish Shah

There are two types of investors - Retail Investors and Institutional investors. Retail Investors are people who invest their own money in companies whereas Institutional Investors are entities that deal with the securities, assets, and properties. Institutional Investors are mainly banks and credit unions that lend money to other banks or companies.

Retail Investors are divided into three parts - Individual investors, Angel investors and Sweat Equity investors. Institutional Investors are divided into six parts - Pension plans on behalf of employees, Businesses making investments either directly or via captive fund, Endowment Funds, Mutual Funds, Sovereign Wealth Funds and Large Money Managers.

Investment has been looked at as a risky business which is why most people still prefer using traditional means of investments but with the increase of content on social media regarding finance and investments, a lot of young adults are moving towards high-risk high reward investments, but after taking extra caution and after extensive market research. There are a lot of finance tutorial videos available on youtube which can be used to learn the basics of investments.

The concept of investing has been made palatable to a younger audience by speaking their lingo and making content according to their understanding, mainly in the form of Instagram reels. Some famous finance-based Instagram influencers include @financewithsharan, @reshionbusiness and @iamnehanagar who curate finance-related content which can be understood even by a layman. Shows like Shark Tank and Dragon's Den also help in making a subject like investing very fun for the general audience.
