Grimm is an American TV series about Detective Nick Burkhardt who starts to perceive a horrifying creature that no one else can. He quickly realizes that he too is a huntsman, just like his forefathers.

Nick Burkhardt, a homicide detective with the Portland Police Department discovers that he is a member of the Grimm family, a group of protectors tasked with maintaining harmony between mankind and the Wesen, or mythical beings of the world (Wesen is the German word for being or creature). He must contend with a variety of hazardous monsters throughout the series with the aid of his Wesen companion Monroe and his partner, Detective Hank Griffin.

Numerous characters in the story who are members of these beasts (Wesen) organizations are referred to as belonging to either Black Claw or Hadrian's Wall (HW), two competing gangs.
