Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani is a 2015 Indian historical drama that premiered on Zee TV on July 27, 2015. The show initially focused on Rani Gayatri, played by Drashti Dhami and Ranaji, played by Siddhant Karnick love story in Season 1.  The programme then shifted its focus to Rani, played by Eisha Singh who is their daughter, and Raja, played by Sartaj Gill, their son-in-law, due to the deaths of Rani Gayatri and Ranaji. However, Rani's character perished as well, and a lookalike named Naina was added in her place who was also led by Eisha Singh. Unfortunately, the principal characters Raja and Naina were also killed. 

The show's main characters, however, were retained when it was revealed that Raja and Rani had reincarnated as Raj and Rani, respectively. The show aired its final episode on July 4, 2017. The show previously took a seven-year jump, then a 12-year jump, then a four-month jump, then a ten-year jump, and finally a several-year jump, after which these characters died in a vehicle accident, leaving behind their daughter.

Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani received good response from critics and masses alike. It is currently available digitally on Zee 5 for free and also boasts an impressive star cast like Surekha Sikri, Moon Bannerjee, Anjum Fakih, Akshay Anand and Parul Chaudhary, to name a few, in supporting roles.
