Zee TV carried the Indian television programme Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi. It was based on the lives of Isha and Ira, two orphan sisters. It was produced by J.D. Majethia's Hats Off Productions, directed by Faatimah Malik, and filmed in northern Indian locations like Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Toral Rasputra, Leena Jumani, Vipul Gupta, and Aham Sharma played the series' primary characters. Pavan Malhotra, Sushmita Mukherjee, Sonakshi More, and Sachal Tyagi played recurring characters. After airing 188 episodes, the programme came to an end on December 16, 2011. It has an IMDb rating of 8.7 out of 10.

Isha and Ira, two orphan girls, are shown in the novel as persistent survivors despite adversity. They are left to fend for themselves after their father abandoned them and their mother passed away. Because he is getting married to someone else, their father must abandon them. They are assigned to a home where Devki and her brother Bhola reside as orphans.

Since they escaped and had to hunger, the kids first dislike them. Ira was ill and injured her leg, which is why Isha returned. By telling Ira negative things about Isha, Devki is attempting to keep Isha and Ira apart. Isha also learns that Tinnu, who assisted Isha in escaping, is in the dimly lit chamber and has to starve. Isha, meantime, is despised by Vrinda because she caused the group a lot of grief. However, Vrinda and Arjun first meet when Arjun is called to bring meals one day. Arjun starts writing Vrinda letters as they become friends. They both experience love. When Bhola learns, she warns Vrinda.

To exact revenge, Spices are mixed by Vrinda in Bhola's breakfast. Bhola warns Isha to disclose the truth while telling Devki the truth. Devki declares that she will agree to any terms as long as the perpetrator is identified. Isha accepts responsibility and orders Devki to free Tinnu. Tinnu is seriously ill. Isha is now liked by Thakur and Fatima, but Cutting and Vrinda are still angry. Tinnu's care is attempted by Thakur, Fatima, and Isha, but to no avail. The children assist Isha as she gathers money. They instruct Vrinda to try to get Devki to see a doctor since Vrinda arrives and wants to assist and prove she is superior to Isha. When the doctor arrives, Tinnu is healed. What follows is a story filled with emotions, drama, betrayal, heartbreak and reconciliation which makes it a perfect family entertainer to watch during dinner.
