Sanjay Jadhav directed the 2013 Marathi movie Duniyadari . The movie is about everyone's journey, which ultimately helps them see life as it really is. The Marathi audience has applauded it. Positive responses from the critics. Suhas Shirvalkar's book of the same name served as the inspiration for the movie. The Marathi film industry saw a boost as a result of this movie. The only Indian movie to run for 50 weeks in theatres from 2010 to 2020 is this one. It stars Swapnil Joshi, Ankush Choudhary, Sai Tamhankar, Jitendra Joshi, Uday Tikekar, Sushant Shelar, and Urmila Kantikar in important roles.

Grandma Shirin (Sai Tamhankar), who has a streak of grey, is seen in the first scene of Duniyadari accompanying grandfather Pritam (Sushant Shelar) to Pune with his grandchildren. The men's bell-bottom pants and the women's polka-dot gowns and "Asha Parekh" salwar kameezes suggest that the drama takes place in the late 1970s. Nothing is explicitly stated, but through the story that centres on Shreyas Talwalkar, each character's significance to the plot is revealed (Swapnil Joshi). His mother insists that he enrol in college in Pune.

Shreyas befriends DSP alias Digya (Ankush Choudhary) and his Katta gang under circumstances that are reminiscent of college life in Hindi cinema of the 1980s. Shreyas, a do-gooder who defends friendships against the ominous Saai (Jitendra Joshi), emerges as the sane one among the rural gang. A love triangle results from his attraction to Shirin and Meenu's (Urmila Kanetkar) attraction to Shreyas. Shirin is Pritam's sister and a medical college student. They are the offspring of a Kolhapur-based MLA who despises Shirin, his own daughter.

Out of disdain for Shirin (who has constantly rejected his approaches), Shreyas accepts Meenu's proposal, but he is unsure of their future. Against Shirin's wishes, Saai fixes their marriage. Later on, Meenu realises how much Shreyas loves Shirin. Shreyas and his buddies battle Saai's gang on the wedding day of Saai and Shirin. Shirin marries Shreyas at last. She is aware that Shreyas has only a few months left to live and is suffering from a fatal illness (likely blood cancer). They are soon to become parents.

The movie comes to a poignant close with a scene in which all the pals, who are now in their early 50s, gather at the same college katta on Shreyas's birthday and share their thoughts for him.
