The ensemble cast of the romantic musical Dil Vil Pyar Vyar from 2002 includes R Madhavan, Hrishita Bhatt, Jimmy Shergill, Namrata Shirodkar, Bhavna Pani, and Sanjay Suri. The music composed by R D Burman served as the inspiration for the movie.

In Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, three friends—Krish Kumar, Hrithik Mittal, and Devdarshan Suri alias Dev—from various social backgrounds struggle to overcome obstacles in their romantic relationships and win the war of life—which entails becoming successful musicians. When they sign up for the biggest music competition in the world, their dreams will start to come true. 

The first storyline is about a second chance for love. Devdarshan Suri, sometimes known as Dev, is a widower; Payal passed away soon after the couple's honeymoon. He relocates to Mumbai with his sister Rachna from Pune. Gauri, who resides with her psychosomatically ill brother Gaurav, is introduced to him here.

Despite their falling in love, Gaurav's illness casts a constant shadow over their relationship. Then Rachna develops feelings for Gaurav.

The third tale shows how ego, pride, and insecurity may consume love. Raksha and Krish Kumar have a happy marriage. They both want to be famous singers and are aspiring to do so. Even though Krish is more determined than Raksha, Raksha achieves her goals first and turns enraged. Their relationship crumbles.

The romance involving Hrithik Mittal and Jojo is the fourth story. Despite the fact that Hrithik is a multi-millionaire and both families want them to be married, Jojo is unwilling to do so until he finds employment and gains independence from his father.
