Ekta Kapoor's production company, Balaji Telefilms, created the Indian television programme Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil for Star Plus. The plot, which is set in Austria, was influenced by both the 2008 novel The Immigrant by Manju Kapur and the 1997 novel Pardes. Locations in India, Vienna, and Innsbruck were used for filming. Drashti Dhami portrays Naina Vivek Batra in the show, and Arjun Bijlani plays Raghav. Rehaan Karan Khurana is portrayed by Rajesh Mehra and Vineet Raina. On June 30, 2017, it stopped airing after 170 episodes. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3 took its place. Hardik Thakkar also starred in the show.

Raghav Mehra works for his affluent Indian family in Austria. Sanjana, the spoiled and wealthy woman he loves, ignores him. Due to the disease of her heart patient mother Asha, Naina Batra, a woman close to her family, separates from her fiancé Amit and travels to Austria for the procedure.

Raghav and Naina get along well. The union of Raghav's cousin Veer and Naina is arranged by Indumati, Raghav's grandmother. On the day of the wedding, he departs, and Raghav gives up his love in order to marry Naina, who initially feels deceived but eventually comes to trust him.

Sanjana is carrying Veer's foetus. Raghav receives assistance from Naina to launch a business in Austria. Indumati enters a coma. Rehaan Khanna, a customer, walks in. After meeting his wife Ahana, Naina decides to carry his child.

Raghav thinks Naina is having an affair and carrying someone else's child.

Raghav splits from Naina without cause. Veer marries Sanjana, who had a daughter named Veera. After warning Naina that the baby is in danger, Ahana meets with a car accident that was organised by Rehaan's stepmother Harjeet and perishes.

Naina is still living in India six months later. Raghav is a haughty businessperson. When Indumati awakens from her coma, she thinks the child Raghav and Naina had is actually Ahana's. When Rehaan found out that Ahana had used a surrogate, he started looking for her and also alerted Harjeet, who is now determined to destroy Ahana's child.

Ahaan, a boy, is born early thanks to Naina. Raghav and Naina become closer as they admit their love, but they eventually split ways due to miscommunication. Rehaan assaults Raghav, believing that he has abducted the child. Raghav probably believes Rehaan is Ahaan's father and that Naina cheated on him before he passes away.

To care for Ahaan, Naina marries Rehaan and pretends to be controlled by Ahana's ghost. Harjeet's real motivations are revealed by Naina. She confirms her marriage to Rehaan to Indumati. Rehaan sacrifices himself in order to save Indu, Naina, and Ishaan after Harjeet is detained and tries to shoot Naina. Neil, Rehaan's son, is born to Naina.

Naina, Rehaan, Ishaan, Ahaan, Neil, and Indumati are all content seven years later. When her students inquire about her love life, Naina, a tutor, points to a picture of Raghav. She claims that Raghav is her life and that she will spend eternity with him in heaven since he taught her the essence of love.
