Atkan Chatkan is a Hindi movie about a street kid named Guddu who creates a band with other youngsters who share his interests in order to compete in a famous music competition. To succeed, he must, however, get beyond the obstacles in his way.

Guddu, a 13-year-old assistant at a tea shop, is the protagonist of the movie. His mother, a singer, has left the family, and his father, a former musician, is a destitute alcoholic. As a result, he is forced to assume parental duties at a young age. His interest in music, and he enjoys playing, listening to, and observing it. 

He watches a wedding band practice intently while doing his daily chai delivery rounds, utterly losing track of time. He hopes to eventually join the band. The movie also explores the stories of several street kids who labor close to Guddu's tea shop, in addition to the story of Guddu.

They stumble onto a carnival one day while aimlessly exploring the city when they witness an orchestra playing for tips. This gives them the idea to start their own band. Atkan Chatkan depicts the aspirations of millions of young children who lack the resources and are left with nothing more than a burning desire that needs careful nurturing in order to develop and achieve in life.
