Honey Irani co-wrote and directed the 2003 Hindi-language medical drama movie Armaan. The movie is set at a hospital and depicts the struggles of its principal, Dr. Akash (Anil Kapoor), to maintain the institution's financial stability. It stars the ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Gracy Singh, and Randhir Kapoor. In the meantime, Sonia (Zinta), a lady with schizophrenia, enters his life and promises to support the hospital by making a donation under the condition that Akash marries her.
He and his adoptive son, Akash, also practise medicine in the hospital that Dr. Siddharth Sinha built. Siddharth wants to head a cutting-edge hospital, but his line of work forces him to spend all of his time caring for patients. Dr. Neha Mathur, a new physician who soon joins the hospital, falls in love with Akash. However, with Sonia Kapoor's entrance, Akash and Neha's relationship undergoes a transformation. Sonia, a spoiled, envious woman who likes things her way, quickly develops a desire for Akash for herself. She determines that she can buy Akash's love by making a financial arrangement because she knows he is the one for her. The contract specifies that after Akash weds Sonia, her father Gulshan Kapoor will contribute to the hospital's funding.
After having a heart attack, Siddharth perishes while attempting to transport an injured youngster to the hospital. The appropriate completion of the facility is his final wish. Akash is unable to secure additional funding because of the mounting debt incurred to buy hospital equipment. He consents to marry Sonia despite having broken his heart in order to establish the hospital and fulfil his father's dying request. Neha recognises his predicament and consents to part ways with Akash, but because of her commitment to and professionalism at the workplace, she makes the offer to stay on as a hospital employee.
Following their marriage, Sonia starts bugging both Akash and Neha with her suspicions that they are having an affair. She keeps coming up with excuse after excuse to get Neha, who is still employed at the hospital, out. She was in a horrific accident and has major brain injury, necessitating surgery from Akash. He finds himself in a predicament briefly because treating Sonia would need him to once more deal with her issues. Sonia later makes a full recovery after he chooses to carry out his responsibility as a doctor. Despite her actions, she finds out that Akash performed surgery on her. To enable Akash to get married and start a family with Neha, Sonia asks for his pardon before divorcing him.
