In Hindu culture, Saraswati has always been a goddess, from the time of the Vedas to the present day. In the Hindu epic Mahabharata, the Shanti Parva, Saraswati is called the mother of the Vedas and, later, the celestial creative symphony that came into being when Brahma made the world. She is called the mother of eloquent speech and melodious music in Book 2 of the Taittiriya Brahmana. Saraswati is Brahma's dynamic energy and strength.
