Tara Alisha Berry made her acting debut in 2011 with the Hindi film Mastram which was based on the life of an erotic fiction writer. However it was her role in the 2013 Telugu film Money Money More Money that brought her recognition in the film industry. Mastram is a 2014 biographical Indian Hindi film directed by Akhilesh Jaiswal and starring Rahul Bagga and Tara Alisha Berry. The film which is about an aspiring litterateur who eventually becomes a full-fledged pornographic writer is inspired by Mastram an anonymous author of popular pulp fiction and sex stories in Hindi. 

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s these books were sold at railway station stalls and small roadside and pavement shops in North India. With this film Jaiswal makes his directorial debut. Tara Alisha Berry makes her feature film debut as well. The film features rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's Gujarati single Achko Machko which also serves as the theme song for the film's trailer which was released on February 14 2014.
