Pre Debut

As a member of the hip-hop group Cutie Pies Nancy participated in an audition for Korea's Got Talent in 2011. The group advanced to the semifinals. She made multiple TV appearances as a teen including ones in The Unlimited and Mak Ee Rae Show: Just Do It Expedition (2012) in which she accompanied Kim Yoo-jung of South Korea on a trip to the Philippines and Saipan.

Momoland

In order to choose the members of MLD Entertainment's new girl group Momoland Nancy signed up to compete on Mnet's reality survival series Finding Momoland in 2016. She took first place in the competition and made her group debut on November 10 2016 with the mini-album Welcome to Momoland. Momoland performed on stage for the first time at M Countdown.

Nancy then joined Inkigayo's project girl group Sunny Girls it was revealed on November 19 with Eunha from GFriend Cheng Xiao from WJSN YooA from Oh My Girl and Nayoung from Gugudan.

On November 27 they officially debuted with the title tune Taxi at SBS's Inkigayo stage. On December 26 the group also gave a performance at the 2016 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
