Parmar made her acting debut in the 1998 Zed TV series Woh. After a brief absence, she returned to television in 2000 with Sony Entertainment Television's Choodiyan. She portrayed Meghna, a lovely and compassionate sister who lost her mother in a horrible accident. Her first lead role was as the titular character in Shaheen. In the same year, she starred in Yeh Jeevan Hai and the first season of Rishtey.

Parmar's career made a huge stride forward in 2002, when she earned the eponymous main role of Kumkum opposite Hussain Kuwajerwala in Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan.
