Divya Gokulnath is an Indian educator and entrepreneur. Divya is the co-founder of BYJU'S a leading ed-tech company in India that offers online learning programs to students in K-12 and test preparation. 

Under Divya's leadership BYJUS has become one of the most successful and popular ed-tech startups in India. Divya has been recognized for her contribution to the fields of education and entrepreneurship. She was named in Forbes India's Women Power Trailblazers list in 2019 and was also featured in Fortune India's 40 under 40 list in 2020.

Age

Divya was born on April 21 1987 in Bengaluru Karnataka. She will be 36 years old as of 2023. Her zodiac sign is Taurus.

Education

Divya graduated from Frank Anthony Public School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology from RV College of Engineering in Bengaluru. She met Byju Raveendran who was teaching her GRE exam prep course after graduating in 2007. Because of her questions during class breaks Byju encouraged her to become a teacher.

Family

Divya's father works as a nephrologist for Apollo Hospitals and her mother is a programming executive for the television network Doordarshan. Her parents have only one child. Her father taught her science as a child.

Marriage

Divya is married to Byju Raveendran. Divya lived with eleven other family members in April 2020 including their young son and their second child was born near the beginning of 2021. 

She used to work long days at the office before the COVID-19 pandemic but during the lockdown she began working from home. She told The Indian Express in 2021 that her typical day consists of juggling her son's online classes meetings recording video lessons and spending time with her newborn child.

Career

Divya and her husband co-founded the online education platform Byju's in 2011. Initially the company provided in-person education to supplement school education before launching an online app with video lessons in 2015. Divya has appeared in instructional videos as a teacher. Divya was in charge of user experience content and brand marketing during the COVID-19 lockdown in India. She oversaw BYJU's free access to educational content allowing students to learn from home during the pandemic. 

Divya also blogs about the future of education parenting and women's participation in STEM fields and she has been an advocate for closing the gender pay gap in India. She has also spoken with Mint Startup Diaries about the challenges that women entrepreneurs face and she co-wrote an opinion piece about educational technology in India with Byju Raveendran for Vogue India.

Gokulnath was named Chair of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry's EdTech Taskforce in March 2022.

Byju's reportedly added 13.5 million users in March and April 2020 for a total of 50 million and plans to reach 70 million students and 4.5 million subscribers by September 2020. Divya her husband Byju Raveendran and his brother Riju Raveendran have a combined net worth of $3.05 billion as of 2020 according to Forbes.
