Dheeraj's neighbours introduced him to football. A well-known state football player named Surendra Singh lives close to his home. Surendra Singh participated in the Santosh Trophy numerous times in the 1980s, and it was thanks to him that Dheeraj was able to compete in the inter-district U-14 Championships at the state level. In 2011, Dheeraj competed for the state and his winning team at the National U-14 Championships in Kalyani, West Bengal. He was subsequently chosen for the AIFF academy in Kalyani.

Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem was a member of the AIFF Elite Academy group practicing for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in India. Following the competition, Singh was chosen to play for the All India Football Federation-owned Indian Arrows, a squad comprised of India's under-20 players to offer them playing time. In the season opener for the Arrow against Chennai City, he made his team's professional debut. He began and maintained the spotless record as Indian Arrows triumphed 3-0. He terminated his contract with the AIFF on December 31, 2017, in order to take part in European trials, starting with Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

 

Domestic Career

Kerala Blasters' Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem played for them during the 2018–19 Indian Super League season. He was the club's top pick for the goalie. Dheeraj made his club debut on September 29, 2018, against ATK in the season opener of the 2018–19 Indian Super League, in which the Blasters won 0–2. With the club, he participated in 13 league games and one Super Cup game. He made numerous incredible saves that earned him acclaim from various managers. He was selected for the India U23 National Team due to his outstanding season for the Blasters.

Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem joined the Indian Super League team ATK for the 2019–20 season after a strong year with Kerala Blasters. Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem's performance against Al-Rayyan on April 14, 2021, in which he maintained a clean sheet, earned him a spot in the AFC Champions League team of the matchday. On April 17, against Al Wahda, he once more maintained a perfect record. On April 20, Dheeraj received the Man of the Match award during a game versus Persepolis. Even though his team didn't make it past the group stage in its first outing, he was named the top goalie in the AFC Champions League group league round. He led the West Zone group league stage in goaltending with a staggering 26 saves in just five games. He became the first Indian player to be chosen to the AFC Champions League squad of the season on November 26, 2021.

 

International Career

In the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which was held in India, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem represented the India U17 team. He participated in all three of India's group games as the starting goalkeeper.
