Partha Chatterjee a powerful member of the Trinamool Congress and a minister for West Bengal served as the committee's principal patron. The Durga Puja in 2018 was when Chatterjee's romance with former model Arpita Mukherjee first attracted attention (although the two are believed to have met a few years previously). A few months had passed since the passing of his wife. 

Four years later an Enforcement Directorate inquiry is centered on the two people's friendship and their involvement in the cash-for-jobs scandal involving the hiring of teachers for public schools.

Mukherjee who is currently 37 has four high-end vehicles three apartments in upscale areas of Kolkata as well as numerous other moveable and immovable assets.
