Filmmaker Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu has been making short films since 1909 and traveling to several Asian countries to market his works. He is known as the Father of Telugu cinema since he created the silent film Bhishma Pratigna in 1921, which is usually regarded as the first Telugu feature film.
